Our Services:
Chiropractic Adjustment:
What chiropractors are known for, this also goes by other names including Chiropractic Manipulative Technique (CMT), Spinal Manipulative Technique (SMT), and joint manipulation. The purpose of the adjustment or manipulation is to restore motion to an area of the body that isn’t moving as well as it once did. This can be applied to the joints in the spine (neck, upper back, and lower back) as well as the joints of the foot and ankle.
Foot/Ankle Adjustments:
A normal foot has 26 bones (that’s 2 more bones than the spine contains!) that make up 33 different joints. It has that many joints because the foot should be able to move really well. Lots of foot conditions (plantar fasciitis, calf pain, achilles tendinitis and bunions to name a few) respond well to ankle and foot adjustments and rehab exercises.
Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy (M.D.T.):
We are the only chiropractic provider in Missouri certified in The McKenzie Institutes Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy. In fact, Dr. Alex is only 1 of 140 chiropractors in the world who hold this distinction. This is our core assessment during your first visit, and it allows us to alleviate most complaints in 8-10 visits.
Active Release Technique (A.R.T.):
A.R.T. is great to decrease muscle tightness and pain in areas of the body that are sore, injured or overworked. It then enables us to begin rehabilitating the area. A.R.T. is commonly used for plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel, rotator cuff or shoulder pain, low back pain, and various other pains and injuries. Dr. Alex is a member of the Elite Provider Network for ART providers. Ask us how ART can help your condition!
Dry Needling:
This can be used for many conditions and even works great for conditions that have been bugging you for a long time. Dry needling uses thin monofilament needles, commonly used for acupuncture, strategically placed within your muscles. This creates micro-trauma which stimulates the healing process in the area and in turn restores normal tissue texture, tone, and function. Electrical stimulation can also be used with the dry needling to help with pain control.
Instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilization (IASTM):
Instrument assisted soft-tissue mobilization (IASTM) is great for pain control and getting tight muscles to loosen up for rehab. This technique utilizes a stainless-steel tool that is rubbed over and around the painful area to help get those tired, achy muscles to relax. We can go more into the neurology of it, but we don’t want to put you to sleep. Suffice it to say, this technique “hurts so good.”
Rehab Exercise:
Your first visit will help us determine the areas of your body that aren’t moving well that could benefit from mobilization, strengthening or relaxation exercises. Our goal is to keep you as active as possible during your care so you are better and able to perform at your best!
Kinesio Tape/ Rock Tape:
It’s bright and colorful and can be of temporary benefit for things like low back pain, shoulder/rotator cuff pain, knee pain, and plantar fasciitis. We will also use it from time to time to help people be better aware of their posture during work or a workout.
